Bytemobile, Inc., the global leader in mobile internet solutions for network operators, today announced that its next-generation mobile internet gateway application, WebGate™ Service, has been nominated for the GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2009, in the category of “Best Service Delivery Platform.” The awards are held each year at the GSM Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and are considered to be the premier recognition for products and services in the global mobile industry.
“Our congratulations go to all the nominees in this year’s Global Mobile Awards,” said Rob Conway, CEO of the GSMA. “In an uncertain economic climate, mobile communications continue to drive social, economic and technological development, as the calibre of entries this year again illustrates. To have been nominated from such a high-quality field of more than 450 companies that entered is a tremendous achievement, and we await the announcement of the winners at the next month’s Global Mobile Awards evening in Barcelona with great interest."
The GSMA Global Mobile Award for “Best Service Delivery Platform” recognizes the contribution that middleware and software application developers — as well as a variety of Value Added Service providers — make to enhancing the service delivery environment and attracting new mobile users. The winning technology must coexist in harmony with existing systems and complement the service offerings already available, in order for operators to implement a seamless transition in service roll-out, as well as a seamless user experience.
“We view this honor as a testament to the innovative capabilities of our WebGate Service and the industry’s critical need for the application’s functionality,” said Adrian Hall, chief marketing officer of Bytemobile. “With data traffic on the rise and service consumption dominated by a minority of users, the WebGate application is key for network operators to remain competitive and profitable through intelligent service control and traffic management.”
WebGate Service was released for general availability globally in September 2008 as an application of Bytemobile’s Optimization and Services Node (OSN), which has been commercially deployed in the networks of 100 operators worldwide. The application provides a single service control point within the network for all wireless data traffic, enabling operators to deliver innovative new data services and applications to their customers while controlling data flow through intelligent service selection. WebGate Service is the first mobile internet gateway solution capable of managing all traffic types. It monitors data usage and applies policy rules based on user profile, device type, traffic type, and other criteria to ensure fine control of service quality and support flexible deployment of customized services.
The GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2009 will be presented at the world’s largest and most successful mobile industry event, the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, Spain, February 16-19.
