Bytemobile, Inc., the global leader in mobile internet solutions for network operators, today announced the appointments of Renato Trentin as regional sales director and Luke Anderson as sales engineering manager of the company’s new team in Australia. Trentin and Anderson are responsible for all new customer sales and management of existing Bytemobile accounts throughout Australia, New Zealand and Oceania.
“Research indicates that smartphones comprise nearly 30% of mobile device shipments in Australia, adding to the mix and volume of data traffic in an already demanding network environment,” said John Cole, Bytemobile vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific. “We are committed to providing network operators throughout the region with solutions that enable them to optimize their existing infrastructure and deliver the best possible user experience for all content, on any mobile device. Renato and Luke are well-qualified to lead our regional sales and account management efforts.”
According to industry sources, the number of 3G connections in Australia grew from approximately 2 million to 4.7 million in the first six months of 2007. Market analysts are predicting that mobile data services will grow at a rate of more than 50% in 2008. Analysts also predict that by mid-2009, 3G customers will exceed 2G customers by 9%. This trend has fueled opportunities for web and multimedia adaptation and optimization solutions which are paving the way for services such as mobile advertising and content personalization.
Renato Trentin, regional sales director, joins Bytemobile from VeriSign Australia, where he was account director responsible for the major mobile network operators in Australia and New Zealand. Previously, he was enterprise regional sales manager at Ericsson Australia and regional sales director at Openwave Systems.
