Bytemobile Launches Unison Web Fidelity Service to Provide Open Internet Access on Mass-Market Wireless Devices

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - February 6, 2007

Bytemobile, Inc., the global leader in multi-service optimization solutions for mobile data networks, today announced its new Unison™ Web Fidelity Service, which will enable carriers to provide open Internet access on mass-market wireless devices. The new service will intelligently transform entire web pages for viewing on small screens and support Opera Software's versatile Opera Mini™ browser, as well as browsers that are native to specific handsets. As a result, users will be able to navigate the full Internet on any mobile device.

The new Unison Web Fidelity Service will be the first carrier-grade, commercial infrastructure solution for full-HTML web browsing on feature phones and other mass-market mobile handsets. It will dynamically adapt all Internet content through transparent modification techniques that include rendering, frame flattening and pagination for the handset display.

“The emerging global trend of Internet mobility will provide an opportunity for network operators to take their subscribers to a new level of data services, while increasing average revenue per user (ARPU) and building brand loyalty,” said Adrian Hall, vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Bytemobile. “People on the go will have ready, convenient access to a full range of websites–news, banking, auctions, blogs, email, photos, social networking, eCommerce. They will be able to enjoy desktop-quality browsing on any handset.”

Bytemobile's Unison solution is designed to simplify, unify and accelerate mobile data networks. The Unison architecture consolidates all Internet protocol (IP) services on a single multi-service platform deployed in the core network. In addition to intelligent content adaptation, Unison IP services include optimization, ACCESS Mobile™ content filtering for parental controls, and WAP 2 gateway.

Bytemobile's Unison Web Fidelity Module will be based on the content transcoding technology of the popular Opera Mini browser, which is installed on the mobile phones of more than 10 million users worldwide. The module will be integrated with the Unison Optimization Services Node (OSN) Monaco™ Edition for data reduction, protocol acceleration and dynamic content caching. The Unison architecture ensures rapid deployment and seamless interoperability of all Bytemobile IP services. As a result, operators can deliver richer applications on smaller devices without increasing the cost or complexity of their network infrastructure.

The Unison Web Fidelity Service is currently scheduled to be available for commercial deployment worldwide in June 2007. Bytemobile and Opera Software ASA (OBX: OPERA) announced their agreement for the joint development and marketing of the new content adaptation service in a separate news release today — “Bytemobile and Opera Software Partner to Deliver Open Internet Access on Mass-Market Mobile Devices.”

Bytemobile's exhibit at 3GSM World Congress 2007 — February 12-15 in
Barcelona, Spain — will be located in the Fira de Barcelona, Hall 2, Booth 2B80. Opera Software's exhibit will be located across the aisle in Booth 2B77.
