Bytemobile Expands Asia-Pacific Management Team to Focus on Wireless Infrastructure Market Opportunities in Southeast Asia

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - May 17, 2006

Bytemobile, Inc., the global leader in optimized Internet protocol (IP) services for mobile data networks, today announced the appointment of Lee Peng Tan as general manager for Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, Tan is responsible for Bytemobile's business operations in that country plus Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and India. The company's current customer base in Asia Pacific includes leading mobile network operators such as China Mobile, NTT DoCoMo, Vodafone Australia, and Willcom.

Tan has approximately 15 years of direct sales and channel management experience in performance software for CDMA wireless networks, IT solutions for retailers and banks, and multimedia entertainment products throughout Asia Pacific. As regional sales and marketing director for Actix Pte Ltd, he developed a customer base of mobile operators and infrastructure providers for the launch of 3G networks in Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand. Previously, Tan was line of business manager for Wincor Nixdorf in Greater China and OEM sales manager for Creative Technology Ltd in Singapore.

Tan reports to Michael Conley, vice president of Asia Pacific, who joined Bytemobile in July 2005 to lead sales and business development throughout the region. In February 2006, Bytemobile named Gilbert Chan and Naoki Nishikawa as general managers of its wholly owned subsidiaries in China and Japan, respectively, two of the world's largest wireless markets.

“Lee Peng has a consistent track record in building strong customer and distributor relationships across several Asian markets,” said Conley. “We look forward to his continued success in managing accounts with mobile network operators and infrastructure channel partners throughout Southeast Asia. Consumer demand for wireless data applications in the region is fueling infrastructure development and service deployment, and Bytemobile plans to support this growth with creative network solutions.”

According to Gartner Dataquest, the market for mobile data services in Asia Pacific is expected to reach an estimated $35 billion by 2009, up from $15.7 billion in 2005. Morgan Stanley estimates that the region claimed 41% of the world's mobile subscribers and 36% of its Internet users in 2005. The same source estimates that China, India, Japan, and Korea will rank first, third, fourth, and ninth, respectively, among country markets for mobile services by 2010.
