Bytemobile Builds Out Asia-Pacific Management Team to Capitalize on Regional Growth in Mobile Data Services

Mountain View, California - February 7, 2006

Bytemobile, Inc., the global leader in optimized Internet protocol (IP) services for mobile data networks, today announced the appointments of general managers for China and Japan to direct its business operations in two of the world’s largest wireless markets. The company’s customer base in Asia Pacific includes leading mobile network operators such as China Mobile, NTT DoCoMo, Vodafone Australia, and Willcom.

Gilbert Chan has been named general manager of Bytemobile (Beijing) Limited, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary in China. Chan has over 25 years of telecommunications industry experience in China and Hong Kong, including sales management positions at Wafer Systems Ltd., iMagic Systems, Hong Kong Telecom, and Ericsson, where his focus was wireless infrastructure equipment.

Naoki Nishikawa has been named general manager of Bytemobile (Japan) K.K., the company’s wholly owned subsidiary in Japan. Nishikawa was previously director of Sales and Operations at NetScaler Japan K.K., a high-performance application networking company acquired by Citrix Systems, Inc., and held sales management positions at Avici Systems K.K., Extreme Networks K.K., and MCI WorldCom Japan Ltd.

According to Gartner Dataquest, the market for mobile data services in Asia Pacific is expected to reach an estimated $35 billion by 2009, up from $15.7 billion in 2005. Morgan Stanley estimates that the region claimed 41% of the world’s mobile subscribers and 36% of its Internet users in 2005, and that China and Japan will rank first and fourth, respectively, among country markets for mobile services by 2010.

Chan and Nishikawa report to Michael Conley, vice president of Asia Pacific, who joined Bytemobile in July 2005 to lead sales and business development throughout the region.

“Both Gilbert and Naoki bring to Bytemobile proven track records in Asian telecommunications markets,” said Conley. “We’re looking to them to build on Bytemobile’s current position of strength and provide innovative solutions to our customers and partners in China and Japan. These solutions will help operators in the region to capitalize on accelerating trends in the delivery of data services to large and growing populations of mobile consumers.”
