SaskTel Mobility and Bytemobile Offer Optimized Data Services

Data Optimization Technology Delivers Faster and More Robust Wireless Data Services to SaskTel Mobility's Customers.

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA - June 24, 2003

Wireless web and email access just took a substantial leap forward today in terms of speed, security and reliability. SaskTel Mobility, which operates wireless cellular and data networks in Saskatchewan, Canada, and Bytemobile, Inc., the company dedicated to delivering pure, optimized access to network operators, service providers and enterprises, today announced the integration of Bytemobile's Optimization Service Node (OSN) into SaskTel Mobility's 1xRTT, CDMA, and CDPD networks, which will increase both the throughput and reliability of IP-based data, including web pages and email. As a result of this optimization, end users experience faster data rates and more robust connections. The deal marks Bytemobile's first agreement with a Canadian operator.

SaskTel Mobility's goal is to continue to provide both new and exciting wireless services to its customers as well as enhancing its current product offering. According to Dennis Terry, General Manager of Business, Planning & Technology, "SaskTel Mobility has chosen Bytemobile's flexible mobile data services to offer a solution that will provide optimization with enhanced security and one that will allow our enterprise customers up to five (5) times faster access to the web, their email and other key information. Reliable, fast, easy to use, and secure services are what our customers demand and Bytemobile's technology delivers on those promises. Bytemobile's ability to respond to our specific requirements as we developed a solution for the marketplace distinguished them from their competitors. We selected Bytemobile because their technology addressed our need for a carrier grade solution with the networking flexibility built in to enable us to be first to market with data optimization services."

The OSN employs Bytemobile's proprietary Macara™ Dynamic Optimization Technology, which uses existing radio spectrum and infrastructure resources to offer expanded data services and enhance customers' wireless data experience. Additionally, operators can reduce costs and improve network utilization.

"Our OSN and Macara technology allow SaskTel Mobility to achieve greater efficiency with their network," said Steve Livingston, Bytemobile's executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. "Their subscribers will reap the benefit with very fast access speeds, high performance and network reliability. The OSN also provides a platform for future data services rollouts, so network operators can deliver new data services quickly."

SaskTel Mobility's initial optimization deployment will be placed on all networks providing increased data throughput at no cost to customers. The second phase to be implemented this fall, will include a client-based software solution that is installed on the customer's data device, offering even faster speeds on a subscription basis.

Improving performance with faster downloads and greater access to applications will mean SaskTel Mobility's offering will help enterprise customers easily get a leg up on the competition and better compete in today's connected world.

SaskTel Mobility's initial deployment occurred province-wide on June 2, 2003.
