Bytemobile Boosts Enterprise Productivity and Enables Sharply Reduced Mobile Access Costs

Bytemobile, Inc. the company dedicated to improving the mobile data experience, today announced the launch of Bytemobile Enterprise Optimizer, a transparent, high-performance solution with security for enterprise mobile networks. Enterprise Optimizer is an integrated hardware and software optimization system that allows enterprises to provide widespread DSL-like access to corporate applications from mobile devices. The new solution provides unmatched data speeds, performance and reliability for mobile data offerings, greatly enhancing the enterprise end-user's experience while significantly increasing the data network's efficiencies.

Based on Bytemobile's proprietary Macara Dynamic Optimization Technology, Enterprise Optimizer improves mobile productivity by reducing remote data transmission time to and from the corporate network. Enterprise Optimizer is access-type agnostic supporting wireless, SL, cable modem or direct dial-up, allowing additional flexibility in workforce connectivity. Additionally, because optimized networks reduce the total session time needed to process mobile data, enterprises can also shave operating costs by reducing the costly connection charges associated with traditional mobile data connections — a trait essential for today's IT department investment.

Building off success within the operator market, Bytemobile Enterprise Optimizer responds to the increasing enterprise demand for mobile data services and offers functionality suited for the enterprise network administrator including client-initiated end-to-end security, plug-and-play design, a web-based management interface and end-to-end optimization. The Enterprise Optimizer is located behind the enterprise firewall, in order to protect sensitive corporate data.

The Enterprise Optimizer runs on standards-based high availability Sun Fire V120 and Sun Fire V100 servers. It can be deployed either in a fully redundant or in a single server configuration. The Enterprise Optimizer is delivered with Bytemobile's advanced Standalone Client software to deliver high performance optimization to laptops and mobile devices. The Bytemobile Enterprise Optimizer solution is totally transparent to the end user, to installed network elements and to applications, and the standalone client is all but invisible to the end user, while offering a rich set of configuration parameters.

The Macara dynamic optimization technology comprises a suite of advanced classification, data reduction and protocol acceleration approaches that significantly improve the data user experience while optimizing existing radio spectrum and infrastructure resources.

Standalone Client Boosts Productivity of Mobile Workers

The Enterprise Optimizer includes a standalone client that delivers significant performance gains. In recent testing, a 10-email session was evaluated on an unoptimized GPRS network, an optimized GPRS network, and a corporate Local Area Network (LAN). Time to complete the session — to load the application, then read and respond to messages — and data volumes transferred were recorded. In the unoptimized network, the session took nearly thirty minutes to complete, and 1.2 megabytes of data were transferred. In the Bytemobile-optimized network, the session was completed in just under five minutes, with only 170 kilobytes (one-seventh) the data transmitted. For the LAN, total session time took just over three minutes and 1.2 megabytes of data were transferred.
