T-Mobile Selects Bytemobile to Optimise Wireless Data

Macara™ Optimisation Service Node (OSN) Delivers Faster and More Reliable Data to T-Mobile's Mobile Data Customers

East Sussex, England - October 15, 2002

Bytemobile, the company dedicated to accelerating the growth of the wireless data market through significantly improving the user experience and operator efficiency, today announced that T-Mobile UK has signed a software licensing and support services agreement for the use of the Macara OSN in its UK GPRS network. Bytemobile's Macara OSN will enhance T-Mobile's wireless data offerings for consumer and corporate/enterprise customers by providing wireline-like network speeds and increased robustness, as well as enhanced security for corporate customers.

"To unlock the enterprise user data market, mobile operators need to deliver useful and engaging services with increased speed, reliability and security," said Christopher Jenkins, managing director for Bytemobile, EMEA. "With our Macara OSN, T-Mobile is improving the data experience and delivering greater utility for their corporate customers."

"Enhanced speed, reliability and security of GPRS networks are critical for mobile operators seeking to gain adoption among the much sought-after enterprise market," stated Mark Blowers, senior research analyst, Butler Group.

The Macara OSN dynamically improves the delivery of IP-based data, including web pages and email, on wireless networks and significantly improves bandwidth utilisation. As a result of this optimisation, end users experience faster data rates and more robust connections. The Macara OSN also allows operators to reduce costs and expand their network bandwidth while promoting subscriber retention.

The Macara OSN also incorporates advanced networking technology that enables operators to build intelligence into the wireless data network. Additional services include: subscriber management, enterprise support and event record generation.

"In supporting T-Mobile we've tailored the solution to their exact network needs and growth plans so our technology is ready to improve their 3G traffic as well," said Jenkins. "Today and tomorrow, T-Mobile's customers will be enjoying a truly optimised wireless data experience."

The dollar value of the deal remains undisclosed; specifics include a platform license and additional revenue for training and 24/7 support service.
