Public Relations Manager (Mountain View, CA)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, monitor, manage, and report on quarterly public relations plans, based on clear and measurable objectives
  • Drive, direct, manage, and support corporate public relations agency in United States
  • Coordinate corporate agency’s teamwork with agencies in other geographic regions
  • Maintain database of target influencers — media, analysts and blogs — for outreach
  • Drive planning and execution of influencer outreach, both ongoing and around news announcements and industry events
  • Research, draft and distribute news releases for product, customer, partnership, management, and other public announcements
  • Research and draft backgrounders, briefing documents, feature articles, and other materials that may be required to support news and outreach
  • Research editorial calendars of target media; identify news and feature opportunities and pursue as appropriate
  • Manage agency’s development and delivery of editorial pitches
  • Research and apply for management speaking opportunities in both business and industry categories
  • Research and apply for business and industry awards and list rankings
  • Team with marketing communications manager to support global marketing team, field organization and other internal clients, as directed by corporate communications director

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related discipline
  • At least seven to ten years of public relations experience in corporate or mix of corporate and agency environments (corporate experience is priority)
  • At least three years of mobile and wireless industry experience specifically; at least five years of technology industry experience generally; consumer goods and services industry experience advantageous
  • Highly developed, professional-grade skills in research, analysis, information processing, message development, and oral and written communications, as demonstrated through interviews, writing samples and possibly writing test
  • Proven ability to direct and manage agency and coordinate multiple agencies as well as news wire distribution services, news search services and other vendors
  • Proven ability to manage complex communications projects with interdependencies across multiple functions
  • Commitment to innovation and quality in all programs, projects and deliverables
  • High levels of energy and motivation and strong “can do” work ethic
  • Committed service orientation in support of internal and external constituencies
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
