Networking Quality Engineer
Responsibilities:
Primary job responsibilities include development and execution of functional and system test suites to ensure product quality and conformance to specifications, using both automated and manual test procedures.
- Define and thoroughly execute product and integration test plans, diagnose test failures and produce timely test reports
- Continuously and proactively look for ways to improve product testing processes and procedures through appropriate test design and use of tools
- Learn to configure, operate, monitor and debug the Optimization and Services Node (OSN) product
- Set up and maintain test environments including Solaris and Linux servers, OSN software, networks and test tools
- Report test results, record defects and validate fixes for entered defects
- Assist with schedule creation and monitoring
- Participate in design reviews for product enhancements
- Assist in the production of effective documentation and test specifications that can be used both internally and externally
- Test and review product installation guides and manuals and functional specifications
- In a customer-facing role, communicate and gather test requirements from customer feedback
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in specifying, implementing and maintaining functional and integration test plans in a commercial software environment
- Linux system administration skills and UNIX knowledge
- Knowledge of fundamental networking components and protocol interactions
- Knowledge of TCP/IP routing and protocols such as UDP, WAP, HTTP, POP3, SMTP, SSH, FTP, SFTP, SNMP
- Experience with wireless networks (3G 2.xG, GPRS, GSM, CDMA, etc.)
- Experience with enterprise software and service-based offerings
- Proven ability to learn new technologies independently
- Ability to look at the big picture: understand product architectures, requirements and testing challenges and come up with effective test methodologies and plans
- Highly organized, professional approach to assigned tasks, with proven ability to assume ownership and complete tasks independently, with minimal direction or supervision, on time and to budget
- Strong analytical and structured approach to problem solving and testing
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, within the team and across departmental teams
- Good team player who recognizes and contributes to the value and quality of the team's deliverables
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred
- Experience with mobile devices a plus
- Basic scripting and command line shell
- VRRP or OSPF knowledge
- Network security knowledge
- Knowledge of load balancers and switches
- Experience with debugging cores and complex networking issues
