Multimedia Networking Quality Engineer (Champaign, IL)
The Networking Quality Engineer will join a team developing a state-of-the-art system that enables IP multimedia services in mobile carrier networks. Primary job responsibilities include the development and execution of functional and system test suites to ensure product quality and conformance to specifications using both automated and manual test procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Define, create and maintain test plans; diagnose test failures and produce timely test reports
- Identify and develop system/component automation test scripts to enhance efficiency of product testing
- Learn to configure, operate, monitor, and debug Bytemobile’s Media Fidelity Module (MFM)
- Set up and maintain test environments including Solaris servers, MFM software, networks, and test tools
- Participate in design reviews for product enhancements
- Develop and execute functional and system test suites for Optimization and Services Node (OSN) features
- Assist developers with defect isolation
- Report test results; record defects and validate fixes for entered defects
- Assist with schedule creation and monitoring
- Provide weekly status reports
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- SQA experience with products involving servers, software and networks
- Knowledge of general SQA practices, with experience executing test suites
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP routing and protocols; familiarity with multimedia technologies
- Ability to write test plans
- Experience with PERL or other scripting languages
- Ability to write test automation scripts
- Experience using Linux and Solaris
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with routing and network configuration
- Experience with script development, such as Bash, Perl, Expect
- Experience testing common IP-based application protocols, such as HTTP, FTP
- Experience testing multimedia applications and protocols, such as RTSP, RTP, RTMP
