Sustaining Engineer (Mountain View, CA)
This position is an excellent opportunity for acquiring hands-on experience in wireless carrier networks while
solving challenging problems and providing software development support. The successful candidate will have
responsibility for providing high-quality technical support by leveraging strong experience in diagnostics,
troubleshooting, and code development.
The Sustaining Engineer will team with a talented group of development engineers, experienced with deployments in
over 45 countries worldwide, to deliver high-quality, scalable, internet-based server software in a fast-paced dynamic
business environment. The position requires a self-starting, high-energy individual capable of multi-tasking, working
with customers and providing thorough and timely communications.
Responsibilities:
Support customers, prospects and internal staff
- Provide high-quality technical support
- Independently research solutions to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems by analyzing product and network data
- Write software code to resolve product faults
- Occasionally visit customer sites
- Provide mentoring and training for new employees
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
- 5+ years development experience with client-server software (sockets)
- Knowledge of professional software practices
- Working experience with common IP-based application protocols, e.g. HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, etc.
- Very strong C/C++ programming skills
- Strong data structures and algorithms knowledge
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Development experience on Linux and/or Solaris
- Strong team player and independent contributor
- Experienced with processes for testing and delivering patch releases
Highly Desired:
- Master's degree in Engineering/Computer Science
- Prior experience with web proxies (Squid)
- TCP over wireless networks
