Architect (Mountain View, CA)

The architect has significant responsibility and influence on the technical direction of the Bytemobile product line. This position works closely with product management team, development leads, the executive team, and key customers to set product direction within our collaborative and customer-centric product development process. The architect participates in all stages of product development, from conceptual designs and prototypes to development and customer deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the innovation process to bring new ideas from concept to reality, with demonstrations and working prototypes
  • Provide architectural design and technical leadership for key features and products
  • Work closely with Product Managers, key customers, and company engineering leaders to develop innovative solutions to customer problems
  • Provide leadership and design oversight to the development teams for implementation and refinement of new features
  • Support sales and product management during the early stages of new product adoption

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • At least ten years’ product development experience with high-performance and high-availability systems
  • At least three years’ experience in an architect role
  • Experience designing and building carrier-grade core networking equipment
  • Experience with traffic management, QoS, shaping, and DPI technology
  • Experience with high-availability protocols such as CARP, VRRP, HSRP, and trunking
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in an engineering organization as well as with customers and partners
  • Understanding of wireless telecom networks, including 3GPP and 3GPP2 network architectures in general and LTE and EPC in particular
  • Familiarity with internet technologies including application switching, optimization, caching, and content distribution
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as MPLS, RIP, OSPF, and BGP
  • Understanding of internet protocols such as HTTP, FTP, IMAP, POP, and SMTP
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
