IT Engineer (Patras, Greece)
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the EMEA head of IT, this position plays a diverse role, with a primary focus on providing high-quality support to internal users and maintaining the network infrastructure. The IT Engineer may also deal directly with Bytemobile customers.
- Provide service desk support and standby coverage, alternated between two engineers, for any emergencies that may arise
- Plan, manage, document, and support the evolution of a varied computing infrastructure (Windows, Solaris, Linux platforms)
- Monitor and maintain Microsoft Exchange and data backups using VERITAS Backup Exec
- Perform builds on various platforms
- Implement asset management and disaster recovery
- Support and maintain Cisco switches, VPN concentrators and others
- Work with the department networking infrastructure (LAN, VLANs, firewall/routers/DMZ, redundant internet links, VPN links, satellite/cellular links)
- Handle department development and quality engineering test beds
- Collaborate with department heads to continually identify opportunities for improvement
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Two years’ experience in systems and networks management
- Experience and expertise in IT procedures and policies
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in Solaris, Unix, Windows systems management: Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Active Directory, Exchange Server
- Expertise in Microsoft Exchange management, backup, restoration
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in designing, implementing and supporting state-of-the art wired and wireless IP LANs and VLANs, wide-area IP networks, IP-based Virtual Private Networks, IP security, and scripting programming languages (Perl or TCL)
- Excellent oral and written command of the English language
- Experience in collaboration with other teams in an extremely dynamic company environment
- Military obligations fulfilled or deferred
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with VoIP solutions
- Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) 2003 or above, or similar
