In September 2009, Indosat, the first mobile operator in Indonesia to roll out an HSDPA network, sought to improve its network performance and reduce overall data volume, to meet the growing consumer demand for data services.
Bytemobile’s regional partner, Motorola, deployed the OSN web optimization application in Indosat’s network. As a result, Indosat was able to fully utilize its existing network resources, while offering advanced, reliable and affordable data services to its customers.
Indosat is one of Indonesia’s largest mobile broadband providers, serving over 36 million subscribers, and was recently named Frost & Sullivan’s Mobile Data Service Provider of the Year for the second consecutive year. Bytemobile has provided optimization services to Indosat since 2007.

In November 2007, O2 UK was among the world’s first wireless network operators to launch the Apple iPhone for its subscribers. In support of the launch, O2 UK upgraded its network to the latest version of Bytemobile’s OSN for web optimization and content filtering services. These applications were deployed for all laptop and handset data traffic.
O2 UK was able to enhance web browsing on the iPhone and other mobile devices with increased speed, while blocking access to content that is blacklisted by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). This fulfilled the operator’s commitment to delivering a superior mobile internet experience across a growing range of feature phones and smartphones, while managing access to objectionable content by children.
O2 UK, a unit of Telefónica O2 Europe plc, is one of the largest wireless network operators in the United Kingdom, with more than 21 million subscribers. O2 has been a Bytemobile customer since 2002. O2 UK reported that as of February 2010, it had sold more than 2 million iPhones since it began offering the device in November 2007.

In 2006, SmarTone-Vodafone launched Mobile Broadband, the first wireless data service with full HSDPA coverage throughout Hong Kong. Also the world’s first commercial deployment of 1.8-Mbps HSDPA technology, Mobile Broadband was upgraded to 3.6 Mbps a few months later and was further accelerated to 21 Mbps in 2009. The carrier’s 3.5G network provides data speeds of up to 10x faster than 3G (UMTS) networks and 40x faster than 2G (GPRS) networks.
SmarTone-Vodafone deployed Bytemobile’s OSN web optimization in its network — at launch —to deliver the best possible user experience from service inception and support future growth. This innovation received broad recognition as the latest in a series of industry firsts for the operator.
SmarTone-Vodafone is Hong Kong’s leading provider of mobile services, with more than one million subscribers. It has been a Bytemobile customer since 2006.

In 2006, Sprint asked Bytemobile to perform a return-on-investment (ROI) analysis for network data optimization. Bytemobile worked with Sprint to project total network data traffic in megabytes (MB), as well as operating expenses (OPEX) and capital expenditures (CAPEX) per MB, over the course of three years.
The two companies then conducted a trial of the Bytemobile OSN web optimization application in Sprint’s laboratory. The trial demonstrated that it would reduce data traffic by approximately 50% on average, thereby saving half of Sprint’s total cost of ownership over three years. As a result of the ROI analysis and trial, Sprint deployed the latest version of the Unison Mobile Internet Platform in its network shortly thereafter.
In addition, Bytemobile’s Customer Marketing Services team worked with Sprint marketing professionals to develop and execute a joint launch plan for the SmartView service — a Sprint connection manager integrated with Bytemobile’s optimization client. One component of this collaboration was Bytemobile's production of the following demonstration video:
Sprint operates the largest wireless broadband network in the United States, serving 55 million subscribers. The carrier has been a Bytemobile customer since 2001.

In 2008, T-Mobile International, which serves more than 95 million subscribers across 6 European operating companies, experienced the same rapid escalation of data traffic that other tier-one operators faced. With the OSN web optimization application providing data reduction and faster web page downloads in its networks since 2002, T-Mobile asked Bytemobile to enhance its total system solution for high availability and throughput across multiple data centers.
As a systems integrator actively reselling and installing third-party components around its Unison Mobile Internet Platform, Bytemobile partnered with F5 Networks for the deployment of its Application Delivery Networking solutions. As a result, T-Mobile was able to increase the scalability, performance and quality of its mobile data services to support growth in users and traffic with its existing network infrastructure.
Under a group supply agreement, T-Mobile International selected Bytemobile’s Unison platform as the consolidation node for its Mobile Internet Gateway (MIG).

In January 2010, Telefónica Group was the first mobile operator in Spain to offer flat-rate plans with internet speeds of up to 21 Mbps.
Over the years, Telefónica Spain has utilized Bytemobile’s web optimization application to increase capacity, while enhancing the user experience with significant download speed-up on both handsets and laptops. As a result, Telefónica subscribers who were previously browsing at speeds of 40 Kbps in GPRS are now reaching 170 Kbps on Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution (EDGE) — a 4x increase in speed.
Telefónica Spain has been a Bytemobile customer since 2003. Serving more than 25 million subscribers, it is the largest wireless carrier in Spain, operating under the Movistar brand.
