In June 2007, Vodafone D2 GmbH launched the Handy 2.0 MobileInternet Flat service on its portal, Vodafone live! For a flat monthly rate, the service gives subscribers direct access to Google, YouTube, eBay, MySpace, and other websites from their mass-market mobile handsets.
MobileInternet Flat is powered by Unison Web Fidelity Service (WFS), which is deployed on the Unison platform in the core of Vodafone D2’s network. Bytemobile integrated Opera Software’s Opera Mini™ browser with WFS to further enhance the user experience.
Vodafone D2 is the largest property of Vodafone plc and operates one of the largest wireless networks in Germany, with more than 30 million subscribers. The carrier has been a Bytemobile customer since 2003. It is one of 20 operating companies or affiliates of Vodafone plc to install the Optimization Services Node (OSN) since the deployment of Vodafone UK in 2001.

In 2005, T-Mobile UK Ltd. launched its web’n’walk ‘Internet in your pocket’ service, becoming the first wireless carrier in Europe to offer its subscribers full web browsing on their mobile handsets. It also became one of the first European operators to provide parental controls for access to inappropriate content by children under 18, in compliance with the UK Code of Practice established by the UK Home Office Internet Task Force.
In achieving these breakthroughs, T-Mobile UK deployed Bytemobile’s ACCESS Mobile™ Content Filtering Service and Optimization Services Node (OSN) Monaco™ Edition in its network. These IP services, now tightly integrated within the Unison architecture, met or exceeded the carrier’s strict requirements for network latency, availability and scalability. Following the launch of web’n’walk, T-Mobile UK recorded dramatic increases in both data traffic and average revenue per user (ARPU).
T-Mobile UK is one of the largest mobile network operators in the UK, with 17 million subscribers. The carrier has been a Bytemobile customer since 2002.

In 2006, Sprint asked Bytemobile to perform a return-on-investment (ROI) analysis for network data optimization. Bytemobile worked with Sprint to project total network data traffic in megabytes (MB), as well as operating expenses (OPEX) and capital expenditures (CAPEX) per MB, over the course of three years.
The two companies then conducted a trial of the Unison Optimization Services Node (OSN) Monaco Edition in Sprint’s laboratory. The trial demonstrated that the OSN would reduce data traffic by approximately 50% on average, thereby saving half of Sprint’s total cost of ownership over three years. As a result of the ROI analysis and trial, Sprint deployed the latest version of the Unison platform in its network shortly thereafter.
Sprint operates the largest wireless broadband network in the United States, with 55 million subscribers. The carrier has been a Bytemobile customer since 2001.

In 2006, SmarTone-Vodafone launched Mobile Broadband, the first wireless data service with full HSDPA coverage throughout Hong Kong. Also the world’s first commercial deployment of 1.8-Mbps HSDPA technology, Mobile Broadband was upgraded to 3.6 Mbps a few months later and will be accelerated to 14.4 Mbps in 2008. The carrier’s 3.5G network provides data speeds of up to 10x faster than 3G (UMTS) networks and 40x faster than 2G (GPRS) networks.
SmarTone-Vodafone deployed Bytemobile’s Unison Optimization Services Node (OSN) Monaco Edition in its network — at launch — in order to deliver the best possible user experience from service inception and support future growth. This innovation received broad recognition as the latest in a series of industry firsts for the operator.
SmarTone-Vodafone is Hong Kong’s leading provider of mobile services, with more than 1 million subscribers. It has been a Bytemobile customer since 2006.

In September 2007, WILLCOM, Inc. went live with its new enhanced Speed-up Service for handset subscribers browsing the open Internet. WILLCOM deployed Bytemobile’s Unison Embedded Browser Optimization (EBO) technology to accelerate browser downloads by up to 4x over standard service.
EBO offloads web page processing from the browser to the server and transparently adapts pages to the handset display. The WILLCOM deployment leverages Bytemobile’s technology partnerships with ACCESS and Opera Software, two of the world’s leading providers of mobile browsers. Using either the ACCESS NetFront Browser on JRC or Toshiba devices, or the Opera Mobile EX browser on Kyocera devices, WILLCOM customers can select different levels of optimization with corresponding levels of image quality.
WILLCOM is Japan’s only PHS (personal handy-phone service) network operator, with nearly 5 million subscribers. It has been a Bytemobile customer since 2004.
