Don Dixon is a co-founder of Trident Capital and has been a managing director since 1993. From 1988 to 1993, he was co-president of Partech International, a venture capital firm associated with Banque Paribas. From 1983 to 1988, he was a managing director of Alex. Brown & Sons. Earlier in his career, he was a vice president of Morgan Stanley & Co. and a senior account officer at Citibank. Dixon currently serves on the boards of Advanced Payment Solutions, Bytemobile, Clarus Systems, Neohapsis, Merchant e-Solutions, Qualys, RoyaltyShare, and Syndero. Previously, he served as director of the following public companies: Affiliated Computer Services (ACS); BankAmerica Merchant Services (BPI); CSG Systems International (CSGS); Epicor Software Corporation (EPIC); Evolving Systems (EVOL); InfoUSA.com, a subsidiary of InfoUSA (IUSA); Pegasus Solutions (PEGS); and Unison Software (UNSN). Kevin Harvey is a seasoned entrepreneur with a long track record of developing innovative technologies into successful enterprises. Prior to Benchmark, he was founder, president and CEO of Approach Software, where he led the development of the world's first end-user client-server database for Windows. Approach Software was purchased by Lotus Development in 1993. Before founding Approach Software, Harvey founded Styleware and pioneered integrated software for the Apple II personal computer. Styleware was purchased by Claris Corporation, where Harvey's team went on to create ClarisWorks, one of the best-selling software programs for the Macintosh. In addition to Bytemobile, he oversees Benchmark's investments in Broadbase Software, Collabnet, Ingenio, Kana (Nasdaq), Metaweb, MySQL, oDesk, Proofpoint, Red Hat Software (Nasdaq), RemarQ Communities (acquired by Critical Path), Tellme (acquired by Microsoft), Terracotta, When.com (acquired by America Online), and Zimbra. A founding principal of Ericsson Venture Partners, Mark McAndrews has over 25 years of financial management experience. His investment focus is network infrastructure, software platforms, applications, gateways and tools, terminals, and components. Prior to the firm's founding, McAndrews was COO of the Global Investment Banking Division of Merrill Lynch, where he also served as division chief administrative officer and CFO. Previously, he was president of Merrill Lynch Capital Partners, where he oversaw the management of two private equity funds totaling $700 million. McAndrews also served on the investment committee of Merrill Lynch's Technology Venture Capital Fund, whose investments included Backweb, Calico, Emulex, Metawave, Netro, Vitesse, and Vitria. He began his career as an auditor at Arthur Andersen and also worked at Standard and Poor's. Rod Randall has spent over 24 years in the networking industry as an entrepreneur, senior executive and venture capitalist. Before forming Vesbridge Partners, he was a general partner at St. Paul Venture Capital, where he led the mobile investment practice. His investments have included Dynamicsoft (acquired by Cisco Systems), Bitfone (acquired by Hewlett-Packard Company), FusionOne, and Visage Mobile. Previously, Randall was CMO of Lucent's Service Provider Group, which he had joined in 1999 upon the acquisition of Ascend Communications by Lucent for $24 billion. He was vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Ascend, and before that, vice president of Worldwide Marketing and general manager at Stratus Computer, which was acquired by Ascend. Prior to Stratus, Randall was vice president of Strategic Market Development at Madge Networks, following its 1996 acquisition of Teleos Communications. He had co-founded Teleos in 1987 and served as CTO, vice president of Business Development and vice president of WAN Access Technology. Randall began his career at AT&T Bell Labs and holds several U.S. patents. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with Highest Honors from Georgia Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
